VR TeilhaberBank: More than just a bank
150 years of cooperative banking – and a name that no longer told the story of what makes this bank different. VR Bank became VR TeilhaberBank. Not a cosmetic name change, but a 2-year transformation process from the inside out.
People perceive banking as a necessary evil, not as a partnership. VR Bank needed an identity that makes the cooperative principle tangible and emotionally resonant.
Employees carry the new brand with pride. The message “Wir teilen…” resonates. Real transformation. Not just a new logo, but a new attitude.

We experienced IDEENHAUS as highly effective, especially in internal communication. From the initial strategic reflection and the workshops with the executive board through to implementation within the organization, everything was consistently designed for clarity and alignment. The presentation to the workforce, as well as the internal and external campaign surrounding the new name, provided tangible support to the process and helped to build trust.
Questions about this project
Why did VR Bank become VR TeilhaberBank?
Four operationally connected banks become one shared brand: VR TeilhaberBank. What sounds like a classic naming and design project was in truth a demanding brand and marketing task. Because the bank does not simply name its new identity. With that name it makes a promise: participation is meant to become tangible for customers. As one of the few banks in Germany, it carries this principle not only in its mission statement but directly in its brand name.
What did IDEENHAUS do for VR TeilhaberBank?
IDEENHAUS accompanied VR TeilhaberBank for more than two years, strategically and in communication, together with the management board, the supervisory board and a committed client team. The decisive marketing lever: the brand was not staged for the market first, but anchored in the organisation first. More than 800 employees were trained, internal communication materials were developed and the new brand presence was made tangible in talks and workshops. Only then did the external campaign follow, first with employees as credible brand ambassadors, later with customers.
What did the transformation achieve?
The brand launch did not become an interchangeable moment of visibility but an integrated introduction from the inside out. The new name was only the visible signal. The actual campaign was about a new attitude: “Wir teilen …”.
